Peptide Handling Guide Storage, handling and documentation for research peptides

Methodology

How guides are researched, sourced, written and revised, and how evidence levels on compound sheets are assigned.

This page explains how the content on Peptide Handling Guide is produced, so you can judge how much weight to give it.

Sources

We prefer, in order:

  1. Regulatory and standards documents: ICH guidelines, US Code of Federal Regulations, FDA guidance, WHO technical reports, USP chapters, ISO standards.
  2. Peer-reviewed reviews of peptide and protein stability, formulation and analysis.
  3. Primary research articles, where they address a specific point.

Every guide ends with a numbered reference list. Where we could not confirm a stable DOI or PubMed record, we link to a PubMed search rather than give an identifier we have not verified.

How claims are worded

Much peptide stability research uses proteins or model peptides, and few research peptides have published shelf-life data. When a guide applies general chemistry to a specific case, it says so. Phrases such as “typically”, “commonly” or “a conservative default” signal practice rather than measured values.

Evidence levels on compound sheets

Level Meaning
Documented Published stability or handling data exist for this compound.
Partial Some compound-specific information exists (for example on a degradation product), supplemented by general chemistry.
Inferred No compound-specific stability data was found; advice follows from the sequence and general peptide chemistry.

We add compound sheets only for peptides with a defined structure and a citable literature.

Review and revision

Pages are written and checked by the site’s editors against the sources cited. We do not claim review by a named external expert panel. Each page shows a revision date, which is updated when the content changes materially. Corrections from readers are reviewed and, where justified, applied with a note of the change.
